ASC SOLUTION

EOL & Obsolete Components

EOL means end of life: the manufacturer has announced that a product or family is moving toward discontinuation or is no longer being produced. Obsolete generally describes a part that is no longer available from normal production channels. NRND means not recommended for new designs and is not identical to EOL or obsolete status.

What makes this requirement difficult?

EOL sourcing involves risks around lifecycle status, source information, condition, packaging, traceability, inspection and remaining supply. Original or legacy parts may still be required for maintenance, repair or continuing production.

How ASC approaches it

ASC reviews the exact part number, quantity, required condition and customer-specified verification scope. Available source information and supplier details can then be evaluated before quotation or procurement coordination.

When to contact ASC

Use the RFQ when an original component is still required, an EOL part affects production, or an obsolete PLC, MCU, memory or other component needs review.
